“Therapy is at its core an intimate relationship which explores some of the most profound questions we have to encounter as human beings,” writes psychologist Susie Orbach.
As a therapist I can offer careful and respectful listening, attempting to explore and understand the deeper emotional difficulties and thinking patterns underlining any area you might want to talk about. I
offer my thoughts and considerations when I feel this is appropriate.
When therapy works, it can create a space to reflect on ones history and thereby help reconnect with a deeper sense of self. It can also bring greater
clarity to ones situation, thus creating more choices in how to relate to people and life’s challenges. Many people say they feel lighter, wiser and more accepting of themselves at the end of therapy. Some also report a renewed sense of hope and meaning in life.
How I work
I work both short term and long term with individuals, depending on
personal needs. My style of working is integrative, involving both the cognitive and emotional contents of somebody’s
life.
I also offer Imagework which is a creative method of exploring a problem or
dilemma; see separate page for more information on this.
I normally see people on a weekly basis. The initial session is a way of getting to know each other and
see if we can work together. Only after the first meeting will you need to decide if you want to make further appointments.
